We offer an exciting career opportunity in Schnelldorf: Specialist Environment, Health & Safety (m/f) Job-ID CE-SCH 02/13 Essential Job Functions include: Ensure implementation of EHS Company principles, policies and procedures to provide for a safe and secure working environment. Ensure the site safety management system is continually developed and maintained. Establish and maintain a procedure for identifying and accessing the EHS legal requirements relevant to the site and communicate requirements to management in a practical manner. Coordinate regular audits and inspections with Departmental Managers and Safety Committee personnel to monitor EHS performance against Corporate Policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards and develop recommendations or corrective actions and assist management in implementing the recommendations in an effective manner. Coordinate and lead incident investigations. Develop and implement EHS training programs to ensure competency of management and employees. Identify, investigate and report on compliance contraventions, serious incidents, accidents and ill health to the Regional EHS Director-EMEA and develop actions plans for implementation by site management. Ensure Corporate EHS Objectives are clearly understood by management, implemented and monitored on a regular basis to ensure Corporate objectives are achieved and complied with. Develop strong and effective working relationships with the Enforcement Authorities and coordinate incident investigations with the Enforcement Authorities and Insurance Companies. Review site environmental protection and compliance practices against European and national requirements. Identify any “gaps” and work with site management to ensure on-going compliance and environmental protection. Take the lead role in the development and maintenance of the site fire management control systems and emergency response systems and provide training where necessary. Basic Qualifications: Education: Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or related science subject. Diploma or equivalent in health and safety management. Experience: Comprehensive experience gained within the chemical, pharmaceutical or engineering industries with a minimum of 5 years EHS management experience. Extensive EHS experience in managing a distribution–warehouse operation together with a comprehensive knowledge gained through working with a wide range of high risk hazardous substances. Knowledge and Skills: Extensive knowledge of distribution and warehouse operations, occupational hygiene, loss prevention and fire protection systems. Good industrial hygiene and safety practices, standards, codes and their application. Ability to effectively communicate at all levels. Ability to understand and interpret complex legislation and implement in a pragmatic and concise manner. Provide management leadership, develop teamwork and adopt a pro-active EHS approach. Ability to provide detailed and concise EHS reports and implement effective corrective action plans.
